About me

Ever since I can remember, I have experienced myself as one who was lured by the mystery of life. I loved to go into the forest, even alone, in search of …?

Squirrels were the epitome of mystery for me back then. My hope was to be able to touch one one day. To me, the squirrel stands for the lovely, the playful, the light, the connection between heaven and earth and the mysterious, which can only be approached in silence and attentiveness.

My way

This “lure” manifested itself on many levels. I started yoga at an early age and spent a formative 2 ½ years in the Taizé Community, where I lived, worked and traveled. I was always looking for a sense of home and belonging.

In 1993, I discovered Zen meditation and knew immediately that I wanted to dedicate myself fully to this path.

In 2000, I started teaching Zen courses, which I am still passionate about today.

In 2009, I officially became a Zen teacher and dedicate myself wholeheartedly to this task.

Expanding my spiritual path

In 2006, I got to know Genpo Roshi’s Big Mind – Big Heart process and began to combine it with zazen (sitting meditation). In 2019, I also encountered medicinal plants. Initially skeptical, my doubts dissolved through direct experience. A stay in Peru deepened my experiences and led me to start accompanying people on their path.

Another important part of my life is fasting, which I have practiced regularly since 1981.

Plus the many years as a husband and father with my two sons Andri and Jose.

Challenges and findings

I separated from my wife in 2016 and from the Zen lineage I belonged to in 2024. Today, I see these separations as an empowerment to trust my own path.

I want to create a space where people can find reconciliation and healing. The Casa das Águas Calmas in southern Portugal is a wonderful place for this.

My search for an outer home has turned out to be a journey to an inner home. It is about accepting life in all its facets and discovering the fullness within. I see myself less as a teacher and more as a companion on our journey together, sharing my experiences and presence.

I would be delighted if one of my offers appeals to you!

Gassho,
Marcel
